All Zesté Skin products are proudly 100% handcrafted in our private lab in rural South Australia. Established in 2017 and founded by a former nurse and qualified skin therapist with a background also in cosmetic science, every formula is thoughtfully developed in small batches using skin-safe botanical ingredients and active formulations designed for visible results.
Whats the difference between Bakuchiol & Vitamin A?
Simple way to think about it:
- Vitamin A = direct cell communication (strong, active, corrective)
- Bakuchiol = plant-based multi-tasker (antioxidant + gentle retinol-like support + calming)
Vitamin A (e.g. retinol, retinal):
- Converts in the skin into retinoic acid (the active form)
- Directly binds to receptors in skin cells
- Strongly speeds up cell turnover
- More proven and potent for targeting fine lines, texture, pigmentation and acne
- Can cause irritation, dryness or sensitivity as the skin adjusts
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breast-feeding
In short: faster, stronger results—but more potential for irritation.
Bakuchiol:
- Plant-derived alternative that does not convert to retinoic acid
- Works indirectly on similar pathways (collagen support, pigmentation, inflammation)
- Much gentler and better tolerated, even for sensitive skin
- Slower, more subtle improvements over time
- Less risk of redness or barrier disruption
- Pregnancy and breast-feeding safe
In short: gentle, supportive, and barrier-friendly—but less intensive.

Yes. Our formulations combine botanical ingredients with clean, skin-safe science-backed actives to create effective products that are gentle on the skin and consciously formulated.
We believe clean skincare is about using ethically safe, effective and thoughtfully selected ingredients, without unnecessary harsh ingredients or unnecessary fillers that add very little nourishment for the skin’s health.
Can I use this during pregnancy?
Yes. Every Zeste Skin formula is thoughtfully created to be suitable for pregnancy, using skin-safe botanical ingredients and gentle actives, including Bakuchiol.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. All products are formulated to be gentle, barrier-supportive and suitable for most sensitive skin types. As every skin is unique, we always recommend patch testing before use.
